Okay, you got my attention
Whoever's been clicking on the ads today has made New Year's Day relatively profitable. Nowhere near minimum wage for the amount of time I've been writing, but appreciated nonetheless.

How much do you get per click-through from the ads? If it's worth my time, I can give it a few clicks everytime I hit your site...
The answer is "it depends". Google pays nothing for the PSA's (like the NRDC penguin-building-a-hybrid ad) and rather variable amounts for the others. I think it might even depend who's clicking, as the total seems to increment by different amounts per click. I'm not sure it's worthwhile for anyone to just click a lot, and I don't want to encourage anyone to click something that isn't pertinent to their interests. Who was clicking like mad Sunday? Between one and seventeen people. Why? I have no idea. All I see is a very sparse aggregate of the results (which were still remarkable enough to elicit comment).
As for how much this yields I don't want to say, but I will mention that the total for 2005 didn't meet the minimum for issuing a payment. At the rate this is going, January would buy me some books and a nice dinner someplace. I wouldn't object, and as I've already promised to buy certain people a beer if I pass through their towns, a little beer money is welcome.
